17-18th century 23" tall Ming Martaban jar stores grain or oil, transport cart / ship China/SE Asia.

 Finishes can be engraved, glazed, lacquered or carved.  Collection of metals, clay, harvesting wood, bamboo, ivory, bone,  tree sap for lacquer & pigments from nature, including gold powder. 

 Beloved crafts created at a time when highly skilled craftsman  trained for a lifetime and were very much revered.  


Currently, we have one bronze japanese warrior sculpture dating back to the late 19th, early 20th century. 


The piece shown on the left has been sold.  It is a Ming dynasty brown Martaban jar that may have been used for storage of grains or oils to be  transported by cart or ship.  With a distintive design. Jars were pressed into a pre-carved, patterned mold.  Two halves were then matched and fired and glazed.
